The Tubby’s name in Tubby’s Tank House is named for the late Stan Strickland, who was playfully nicknamed “Tubby” by his friends and family. In the late 1990s, Stan’s best friends and longtime business partners, Ansley and Dennis, helped turn his passion for the sea and all its abundant bounty into a place where local fishermen and seafood lovers could gather for fun and great food. Tubby’s Tank House has been a coastal Georgia landmark for decades. The restaurant is situated on Thunderbolt Bluff, overlooking the Wilmington River, and is renowned for its fresh, locally sourced seafood. It’s been a place where neighbors, friends, and families come together to enjoy the charm of old Savannah. Today, Ansley continues to carry on that legacy, keeping the spirit of good food, great company, and coastal tradition alive.

Stan valued community, and he was a legendary Southern sportsman who loved fishing, being on the water, and everything outdoors.
